Guy Fawkes Night

Guy Fawkes Night

Guy Fawkes Day, also known as Bonfire Night, is celebrated on November 5. This holiday is associated with the events of 1605, when a group of conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. The plan was discovered, and since then this day has become a symbol of victory over treachery.

Traditionally, the holiday is celebrated with fireworks, bonfires and the burning of an effigy of Guy Fawkes. People gather in the streets to enjoy the bright lights and festive atmosphere. Children often make effigies and ask for "pennies for Guy" to buy fireworks.

Despite the historical background, today Guy Fawkes Day is perceived as a cheerful and bright holiday. It reminds us of the importance of historical memory, but has also become an occasion for family and friendly gatherings.
